Locked Safe TL Rating - Meilink Hercules F-729

Hello, we purchased a house 10 years ago that has a Meilink Hercules F-729 wall safe. We do not think anything is in the safe, but we would like to have the safe opened and usable. I am trying to find out if this is a TL-30 rated safe. I am trying to find someone to open the safe and my understanding is if it is a TL-30 rated safe, then it will cost 4 times as much. Would anyone on this forum have any information about this kind of safe? The pictures on photo bucket show the hinges as well. Thanks so much.

It's a B rate safe, definitely no TL30 rating. Pretty much a tin can construction with more than likely asbestos or gypsum fire proof lining, your cordless drill could go through it in 10 seconds. If it was a Meilink TL30 it would say Gibraltar on it.

This is the sort of safe you would have purchased at Sears in the 1970's, from my reading it may have a generic S&G 6709 or 8100 lock, most qualified safe techs should know where to drill and scope it, or even manipulate it open if you don't wish for it to be drilled and repaired.

Call Dennis at Bay Area Lock, he's trustworthy, but not sure if he personally does safe work, so he may recommend another person in your area.

best of luck,

Squelchtone, that's exactly what I was thinking!! Thank you so much for the Bay Area Referral, that is perfect! When I called Meilink and sent them pictures, they were the ones that told me it was a TL-30 and that sure didn't seem right to me by the feel of it. They wanted to charge me an astronomical amount have someone come out to service it, but they would give me a break on the lock. I felt like they were just trying to sell me a service that was not correct. Thanks so much!!! I will call Bay Area Locks!
