I found this interesting video of high school students competing to make "safes" that can only be opened by using knowledge of physics and science. Then the teams have to try and break into each other's safes.

Their elecro-mechanical safe locks remind me of a Rube Goldberg contraption.

Some good learning, but many of those ideas are just not feasible in a real-world situation. Can you imagine how little space you would have remaining inside a safe if you had some of those mechanisms?
