5 digit yale safe lock help

Postby Lee54 » 29 Nov 2019 10:04

We have a Yale safe, it’s old. We don’t usually lock it, don’t keep valuables in it, papers mostly.
My 1 year old came in and spun the wheel and locked it. I have the combination, it’s 5 digits but can’t open it.
Now we’ve unlocked it before but not if what’s written is right.
Theirs both 3 turns to the left and 3 turns to the right. Then 2 turns both ways.
I’ve tried doing 4l 3 r 2 l 1 r then straight l to final number but no good.
Any advise? Thanks

Please post a photo of the whole safe and one of the dial and handle close up. This will help us identify the model of safe lock and give you a better answer as to how to dial it.

if you can share your current instructions as written down, we can try to follow along and see what the dialing order *Should* be.

Most safe locks are 3 or 4 number combinations, the 5th number is just a location on the dial that you have to turnthe dial to in order to retract the bolt after the combination has been entered.

Upload photos to your facebook, photobucket, insta, or imgur and Copy/Paste the link here.

If you truly have a 4 number combination then the dialing sequence should be 5L 4R 3L 2R 1L

Thank you,
Squelchtone
