Sparrows Vault Warning

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Sparrows Vault Warning

Heads up for new owners of the Sparrows Vault: it's possible that the stepped two wheel gate (the one installed in your vault new) is slightly longer than two wheels and rides on the third wheel un-stepped. Try solving for the last two wheels before giving up, or getting frustrated. Trust your graph and finish the drill (even though the lock won't open with two wheels as it should from the box).

A little disappointed this tip wasn't floating around for me, graphed wheel two four times and didn't consider the tolerances could be (are) bad.

Thank you, that will probably make more sense after I spend some time with this. For anyone taking their very first steps into manipulation the technical terms are probably a little confusing. To me it's an interesting curiosity to keep on a bookshelf, and where the stepped two wheel gate should be a confidence builder during the first experiences with a (cheap) safe lock the poor tolerances were extraordinarily frustrating. Had I known the gate could be riding on the third wheel I would've graphed it but instead I just regraphed the second wheel endlessly while getting progressively frustrated with myself.

It's disappointing to learn that a higher quality lock won't fit easily into the box, because it's been my plan to upgrade after some time building skill and confidence. I'm sure I'll revisit your review in a few weeks when I decide to fully disassemble the lock before moving on.
