Massive old locked safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Massive old locked safe

[image][image][/image][/image]I recently moved into a house that has very large old safe that's locked. Is there any hope of getting into it? Would be a bonus if it was still usable after opening it. I took some pictures and have posted them below. I believe it says Halls Safe and Lock Co Cincinnati. Anyone have any advice?

Is there a photo of the actual safe? The dial and handle alone are not enough to tell what you have there.

Thanks!

Here's a picture of the entire safe. Sorry, had to move some clutter around it.

I think this safe has already been drilled by a locksmith to open it.

It certainly does have a lot of holes in it!

I think he means the dial ring plate that does not look original. There is probably a drill hole repair underneath it. The bottom of the dial ring also has a repaired hole.. looks roughly filed after it was welded.

The holes are where screws used to be, it's interesting, I don't believe I've ever seen screws visible on the exterior of a safe door before.

Wow there is a lot going on here.....

The ring around the dial is probably original to the safe.... You just normally wouldnt see it.... Or the screws around the edges.... The screws literally hold the face skin of the door on...

Most safes I have seen of this age have the face attached with blind countersunk rivets. Then the whole face of the door is skim coated with a putty and painted. My guess would be somebody was stripping it to refinish it. The few tapped holes were probably alarm contacts years ago.
