Another burglary story from a bank nearby. They had an ATM, which was not connected to an online alarm system. The burglars knew what they did. They were so relaxed, that they made a sandwich break.

IMHO this was a set up.

Six guys show up equipped and open the safe in less than two hours with a break for more wheels. They knew the safe was there and it was worth their while.

They werent safe techs, but a robber like this approaches the job from a completely different perspective than we would. They had some knowledge either of this safe or previous successful jobs on other random safes.

I would take a strong look at who would know that the safe was there and its contents.

Dont take this personally as is just objective, but was the whole event staged for insurance purposes etc.?

You are on the right track until the end. We feel that one man captured on video near the scene, and interacting with the robbers prior to and during the robbery on the outside, matches a painter who painted a month prior. He was present at the home for considerable time and based on information I won't get into here was likely aware of the safe.

Your last sentence about insurance is inaccurate. They got cash, no insurance, and there is much brutality captured on video.

Unfortunately he as found to late and was already dead. The robbers were caught one or two years later an are now in jail. Because the court though the death was not intentional they won't be that many years in jail as one would wish.

I am so sorry to hear that. It's really hard to understand how anyone can have any enjoyment with money after that. I thought that if someone is killed during a robbery, accidental or not, it's first degree murder because even though they didn't plan on someone dying it's reasonable to expect.

In fact that is part of what really makes me want to catch the scum who did this to my neighbor, besides a huge violation of a person's home/santuary, the brutality, the theft, things were a hair from going wrong.

Did check the verdict. They were convicted to between 10 years 9 months and 13 years for attempted murder, extortionate kidnapping, robbery and computer fraud. They lived in another country, but came back. They were caught with stolen goods from a burglary and were identified as suspects in my friend's death.
