Herring-hall-Marvin safe date

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Herring-hall-Marvin safe date

Hi. I have a herring-hall-and marvin safe that I am trying to find the date of manufacture. I believe I found the serial number after I took the handle off the outside. It looks to be 122830. I appreciate any help. I can not seem to find any way to look it up by searching the Internet.

Hello,

You can't seem to find a way to look it up because it's a defunct safe company from 100 years ago. Those records were never public knowledge to begin with and people were also not into antique collecting back then as much as they are today so figuring out what year something was made and how much it is worth wasn't as popular or a hobby as it is these days.

Your best bet is to post your question AND a photo of your actual safe on this Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/436191493400470, they have a lot of people there who may be able to cross reference your serial number with one that was made in the same year or decade and give you a close enough answer. Are you just curious about the date or do you want to sell the safe and be able to say "this was made in 1889, etc, etc" ?

Best of luck,
Squelchtone
