Need help changing the lock on my smp safe

Hi guys and gals. I recently purchased a smp safe from a friend, I have no idea who has a copy of the key. That is the reason why I want to change the lock. I’ve looked on the internet for a new barrel and haven’t had any luck. I’ve emailed smp to ask if they can help but haven’t gotten a reply back yet.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new barrel or would it be an option to take the old barrel to a lock smith and he can change the teeth in the barrel and make a new key?

I think ideally buying a new barrel would be the most time efficient way. Any advice is accepted

Hi, I assume you mean the lock, when you write barrel. You should be able to buy a new lock at 1010security: https://1010security.com/s2-7-42.html They are usually dealing with professionals, but I assume they will help you with a lock. The key might be to short, but maybe you will find a locksmith nearby who makes a copy of these keys on longer blanks.

Another option could be to reorder the tumblers inside the lock and get keys for this, but this requires a more skilled locksmith and more effort and work.

And you might be lucky and find a replacement lock on ebay, e.g. this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401784811201 They have as the fourth image the dimensions.
