Winding device for time lock

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Winding device for time lock

I've got this old bank safe with a time lock. Presumably it takes a winder. Anyone know where to get one?

On ebay are lots of clock winders. Some do specify the size of the hole.

Nice screw Mosler!

Agreed - need the hole diameter and the dimensions of the square peg that needs to fit inside the key.

Thanks!

I think this is my favorite safe. It's got an old 4 wheel lock in it that has a really good feel to the dial.

It sits in my living room as the primary feature of the room. There's a steel I beam under the floor where it sits and a vertical steel post supporting that. I brought it in on 3/16" steel plate runners with moving blankets under that and simply ripped the moving blanket out from under it leaving small remnants under the wheels. I got away without damage to the wood floor.

I cleaned it up and wiped it inside and out with WD40 and put 300 grams of dessicant in it. I've got a winding key ordered now.

I think i speak for all of us when I say we would love pictures of the internals of the combination lock ;-)

As for the winding key, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find the right size from a local clock repairman. If you still have one. It’s just a square key.

I really enjoy seeing quality vintage items like these still being used and enjoyed. It has led me to acquire and actively use everything from vintage appliances and cookware to my grandfather's machinist tools from the 1960s.

They just don't make stuff like this any longer. A modern TL30 just doesn't have any character.
