Help with this Alpine safe

recently picked up this alpine safe and cannot find much info on it, the dial is 0-50, and no handle, 5626 is on the dial which i believe to be the patent number, anyone know what the proper procedure is for this lock? r4l3r2? im not sure and this is my first attempt at manipulating to try and save it, according to the previous owner, he never opened it either. so who knows what kind of history could be lurking inside!

That's your safe's serial number, not the patent number.

Yes, it does say Alpine on the door. There's a couple things that don't seem 'right' to me. I've owned 2 Alpines and have serviced a handful of others. Every one of them either had a 60 or 100 numbered dial. Each one also had double L hinges. Also, the dial noses were not stamped. In my collection of McOmie safe materials he has never mentioned a 50 dial on an Alpine. This could also be an anomaly of the Alpine line of safes. Please, someone chime in.

well i did manage to get it open just by listening and feeling it, felt good as this was my first time ever doing this, sadly no treasure inside but all works how it should, but to know a bit more history on it would be nice
