No problem

It was a form of transferring.
You know how you have to turn the dial, look at the gate and then read the dial to get the coresponding number? Well I was looking at the gates after I had turned the dial the fourth time, which moved the locking bar and lines the gates all up at the wrong degree.
Assume we're looking at a clock and instead of looking at 12 o clock, I was assuming the gate lined up a 9 o clock, which is a few degrees off, due to the last turn being mainly to unlock the locking mechanism/bar. So every number I had chosen at 9 o clock was a few numbers off from where they were supposed to be. I should have been reading the gates at 12 or straight up and down and not 9, as 12 is where they all lined up before that final turn.
I was also reading the wheels in an incorrect sequence (backwards). A picture would probably do my explanation justice.
On a side note, I also did a couple of searches on the history of my safe and read a lot of info on various sites by some locksmith known as "Andy," who told a bit of helpful history. There was also some random helpful info that pertained to the fact that old safes of certain brands stuck to certain number combinations which were pretty simple tbh.
Hope this helps.
