HHM lug door problem

Great. We get to solve the problem all over again.
1. Make sure it is standing upright and level.
2. Remove lock completely. (We dont want any silly accidents.)
3. Spray liberally with WD40.
4. Slam the door closed and rotate handle to engage lugs.
5. Loosen hinge bolts and rotate the handle further. Use a hammer and drift punch if necessary.
6. When fully rotated, retighten the hinge bolts. Shims might have to be placed under the hinge to adjust the door to the hinge and frame.
7. Check for free movement and re-adjust as needed.
8. Sell it again as quickly as you can.[code][/code]

Update on HHM. Like I mentioned before, I sold the safe to a buyer who was aware of the lug door problem.I made some money. He put the safe on an on-line auction which ended a few days ago.He also made money.What the new owner does is anyone's guess.

If you haven't done so already, take a rubber mallet and hit the lug door handle a couple of times up (clockwise) and door will loosen to open.

How Ironic, I just bought that safe, the inner safe would not seat properly when closed, handle would not go to closed position and it is now jammed, dial is stuck on last number w/movement across 4 numbers. lol HELP

Any way to put masking tape around the opening and then try to close it and see where the rubbing is occurring?

In areas where masking tape is too thick you can use dykem.
