If it's a warded lock, I'm wondering whether a set of cheap Warded lock picks would work? (There are lots of these, just search Google for Warded Lock Picks, those Sparrows ones were just the first result)

Oh yeah, he did mention warded skeleton keys in his first post - I must have missed it. My bad ^^

The keyway is .08 inch by .328 inch.

I don't have a guide to direct which blank to start with for the impressioning.

I've done quit a bit of gun smithing and I'm pretty competent at fitting parts by filing the high points as they are indicated by the impact marks left on dykem layout fluid. I think I should be able to handle impressioning a key if I can obtain the right blank to start.

if the hole is just a rectangle and there is no wards which make a specific keyway shape or profile, then any brass stock that will fit into the lock would work for impressioning purposes. old door hinges are good to chop down to size.

Squelchtone's idea would cost nothing if you have some brass stock, and easiest to file to fit as well.

If the brass stock works and you want to make it look more original (maybe you sell the safe some day) a key blank that might work is the Ilco 611 0.06" X 0.3", it is currently made of steel so it would be harder to work with than brass. I have lots of brass stock from a machine shop I own. I'll grab some scrap and get to fabricating.
