Hello,
A church down the street from me was cleaning out a store room and intended on throwing out a safe. In exchange for helping with the cleaning I was able to take the safe home.
DISCLAIMER: In the effort to be totally forthcoming to assure anyone that reads this that me and this situation are totally legitimate I will happily be as specific as possible about where I got the safe, where and who I am etc... This is by no means an attempt to gain access to someone else's safe.
The safe is aprox 42"x21"x24", green in color and is on metal casters. Here is a link to my flickr account with a few pictures.

I can find no other markings aside from the UL tag above the Diebold logo, the lock itself is also marked Diebold which I assume means it's not a third party lock maker?
So here is my intent... Please hold the laughter to a minimum;
I am a firefighter for the city department here and have become quite proficient at picking locks. I use this only for gaining access to locked fire panels (difficulty level = easy, similar to desk drawer or file cab) or to gain access to locked doors as an alternative to forcing it. In the past few years I have taken to buying S&G locks off of ebay that have been pulled from safes to be replaced by elec. mechanisms. I have been successful in manipulating just over a dozen of these. However I have never been successful in manipulating a lock that I haven't seen from the working side. Is there any reference source that could give me information on this particular safe and more importantly the locking mechanism? I am really trying to avoid having a locksmith drill the lock. As it is a fire safe I am hoping that the lock components of it's era are that of looser tolerances thus giving me a shot at opening it.
Thanks for letting my post my situation on your forum. Again I express that everything I am trying to do is nothing but of the upmost legitimacy.
Regards,
Matt
