Victor Safe Help

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

You are posting this in This Old Safe, a public area of the forum.

Safe manipulation discussion is allowed, but safe drilling or other destructive entry is only allowed in the Advanced - Safes and Safe Locks area.

If you are a guest of the forum and have a safe you need to open, but you do not have the combination, we cannot tell you how or where to drill it.

Victor Safe Help

During a home remodel found this safe, it's an old victor safe. A good friend knew that I enjoyed pin tumbler locks, and has given this to me as a new challenge. I'm a little out of my league, could you guys help me figure out where to start with this one?

I saw a video where someone drilled and used a scope, but I would much rather preserve the safe and brute force the combi.. as long as I could narrow it down somehow.

We're happy to give advice when we're able, on identifying safe models, how to dial your combination, refurbishing, finding a good safe and vault technician, etc.

However, since safes are generally used for high dollar valuables and we have no way to verify if a safe that a new member posts about, is in fact their safe and they have the legal right to open it, discussion regarding the information on how to open safes without the combination is only done in our advanced forums for members who have been here a little while, posted a bit, and we've had a chance to get to know them.

The skill to which you're referring is called manipulation, and it takes some time and practice to learn the skill. The best advice I can give you at this point is to find a local safe and vault technician. Just be sure to specify when calling to find one, that you prefer they open it by non-destructive means and not by drilling.

Everything MBI said, plus please see the other Victor safe thread from a couple weeks ago, your model is only slightly newer and had a 100 number dial, but insides should look like the photos already posted.

Half the battle will be knowing the correct dialing procedure (how many turns to the left, the right, and where to stop the dial before it retracts the bolt.

Best of luck,

If and when you call a locksmith, don't forget to mention that it is a Victor, some locksmiths won't touch them.
