Old Victor Safe information

Postby dw0r » 1 Aug 2013 9:20

Hello,
I recently purchased an old Victor safe that was locked and couldn't be opened with the combination. The combination was wrong it turns out and I had my first taste of lock manipulation. I managed to open it fairly easily and now I'm looking for any information about it. Perhaps a more narrow age than 1885 - 1927 or any information about what blanks I will need to use to cut keys for the interior locks. It came with 2 different keys, the larger one for the larger door fits the lock but is the wrong cut for the lever tumblers and I haven't investigated the smaller key yet but it doesn't move the lock. Any information about this safe or a source for information would be great. Thank you in advance.

P.S. the dial goes to 100 and has "pat pend 152642" stamped in to the front.

No one knows anything about this safe or the key blanks for it?
Does anyone at least know of a possible starting place I could go to try to do my own research?

First off and most important, I'm truly jealous of the fact
that you got a chance to work on this old Victor.
That safe looks like fun to manipulate.

I see that you have a couple of cut keys for it.
And I understand that they don't work.
Just go to your local locksmith and purchase identical
blanks and impression them.

Once you get a taste of manipulation, you'll need more.

Easy to manipulate these old safes. As for the locks any locksmith will have a suitable blank amongst their safe deposit keys. Then it is just a matter of impressioning the keys. I've done a few of these and they go pretty fast if you can find a nickel silver blank rather than a steel one.
