Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

identify and advice on antique safe

Postby Hairarse » 19 Sep 2014 6:16

Hello everyone

My name is Daniel Harris and I am from Carnarvon in Western Australia where I am a hobbyist locksmith seeing as there is no locksmith in town I get a surprising amount of work although I keep it pretty much to emergencies, locked out of the house etc.

The local shire council has requested I attempt to open a safe of theirs located at a local shire business in which the key was lost about 6 months ago, there is a significant amount of value inside and being Carnarvon the nearest locksmith is a 5 hour drive away and with the safe bolted to the floor and wall there is no way of freighting it away either additional to the fact the contents value would mean an employee would have to travel with it to ensure recovery of contents.

I realise there is a level of scepticism associated with this post which is why before I provide any pictures and information on the safe I ask openly what information/proof from myself would you like to receive to ensure all doubts as to legality are covered and addressed before providing me with any information of possible approaches, tools, drilling info and and any other info that may be required to access the safe in question.

I thank-you for your time.

Dan

Hi Daniel and welcome to the forums!

Posting pictures would help a great deal so that everyone will know what you're up against. You won't see information about destructive entry (drilling) here in the general forums no matter what type of credentials you might have. Anyone can view these forums so that type of information just isn't posted.

However, post the pictures anyhow. You might be surprised at the level of expertise you'll find and the type of help you can get here , and that might get you going in the right direction.

Cheers,

Mike

I am fairly sure that that maker is defunct.

One quick point - Hobbyist Locksmith (are you licenced ?) there are fairly expensive consequences for offering locksmithing services when you do not have a licence to do so ...
