Time lock identification by dimensions

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Time lock identification by dimensions

Postby Relic » 16 Apr 2015 12:06

I have a stripped door that has 4 internally threaded posts where a time lock once was.
The threaded posts are set in a rectangular pattern 2"wide and 1.25" high (center to center dimensions).
The cover plate that the time lock would frame the time lock has an opening 4"wide and 3.75"high.
Seems like a smallish timer compared to others I have seen.

Anybody want to guess what time lock was installed there once upon a time?

just like the other post, post some photos please..

If I have a carburetor off an old car and its 4 inches by 4 inches and has a couple holes in the top of it, what brand and model carburetor is it? that's what your question is like without any photos.

On old safes and vaults the shape, thickness, handle location and hinge style of the door was just as important, if you can show us that door as well, we can often look up the safe and then see what was the commonly installed lock and time lock installed on that style of safe or vault door.

Here is the pic, I actually want to sell this when I'm done so this is it for pictures.
I need a timer that fits in this space, simple as that.

If people can figure what timer matches the mounting hole pattern and cover opening great!
If not I'm on my own and ok with that, thanks for looking :)

Sorry for the bump. The problem is that time locks could have holes custom drilled in the back. None of mine have holes in those spots but a 2 movement lock would easily fit in there.

The make and model of the safe can help determine the correct piece that would go in.

That would be a Stromburg WW, used by Chevy and GMC from 1960 to about 1974.

Oh, wait. You were trying to make a point. Sorry.
