Add relocker to safe, with none

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Add relocker to safe, with none

Postby johnb007 » 19 May 2016 15:31

Anyone got a url to an aftermarket relocker, that can be added to a low end safe (TS5950-75)? I figure I could make one and weld solder it in, but thought I'd check first.

TIA.

You know...a picture is worth a thousand words.. I had to go google that part number is it this $1100 dollar Cannon brand safe?
http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/produc ... 50-75-safe

Are you sure the current lock doesnt have an internal relocker already? What is your idea of a relocker? Like a glass plate and metal cables? Or a plunger near the safe lock that trips and blocks the cam/wheel if the back cover is knocked off the lock? Can we see a photo of the inside of your safe door with the cover removed?

Thanks

That's the correct safe.

In this image you see all the moving parts: The S&G 6730, the steel bar that pushes/pulls the side door bolts and the arm that lifts the upper door bolts. There are no other moving parts in this safe. Had I known back then, what I know now, I would have spent more on a better safe.

The 6730 has an internal relocker. Many safes that use a design like you show have an external relocker attached via the two screws holding the back of lock to case. A simple square bolt pointed toward a slot in horizontal bar I am sure a google search of some safe brands will show the general design. Is that a hole where the safe has been opened?

The hole is from the electronic lock, that's behind where it was mounted and where the wires came through to the electric bolt mechanism. There was no good way to retrofit, the S&G manual lock on there, so I did it as simply and as cleanly as possible.

As you'll notice the dial and the opening handle do NOT line up at all.

This was prior to filling the original holes and painting the areas. I was hiding the big hole behind the dial light.

What model and age is that Cannon? Guess I have been lucky as I have retrofitted S/G 6730's to several Cannons; and all have been a direct exchange.
