Diebold door bolts won’t open

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Diebold door bolts won’t open

I have a Diebold vault door in my shop and I’m trying to get the locking pins to shut when I turn the door handle. I took the cover off of the back and it had a pin that was holding a lever down and when it was removed the lever snapped up. Now the handle will not turn and I can’t get the holes back aligned. Any ideas?

Hello!

That silver box with 4 slotted screws is what is called a relocker. It locks the safe bolts securely in place in case a burglar were to drill into the safe and punch off the back cover from the lock. Yours has been "fired"

Put a paper clip into the tiny hole on the front of the silver box with the 4 slotted screws and pull down on that brass flat metal bar until it meets the other hole. Then you can put the lock cover back on the lock or insert something into the hole (such as a screw driver or a bolt) while you work on the inside of the combination lock to keep the brass parts together and keep the relocker from firing again.

Removing the back cover from the lock removed the pin that keeps those 2 brass parts together.

Thank you so much!! I’ll try your fix in the morning.

And check your assembly well! You absolutely don't want the thing to come apart, when the door is locked.

Thank you it worked!!
Now is it possible to remove that dial lock and replace it with a number pad or another dial lock? (And would any replacement work or does it have to be specific) The plastic number ring cracked and crumbled away.
