Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Survivor L0810 key pad and lock safe

Postby CrazyCatGirl » 7 Aug 2022 17:20

I bought my house almost a year ago. There is a Survivor L0810 key pad and lock safe cemented to the master bedroom closet floor. The seller said that he had no info on this and that I need to call a locksmith. I have not done that yet... I figure if anything valuable were in it, it would have been opened before I bought it... but now my curiosity is driving me crazy. Any ideas on how to open it without a locksmith? I have the key, just no combination.

Can you show photos of the safe?

I believe the same keypad is used on the SB0500 and SB3510 model.

@OP have you changed out the batteries yet? Are the battery terminals clean or corroded? Can you enter 5 5 5 5 5 and see if anything beeps or lights up?

You can always call a local locksmith and they can call Sentry, provide them the serial number, and hopefully Sentry would be able to look up the combination, but it's such an old model, who knows if they even have that info. That call the locksmith makes should not cost you much, but the locksmith coming to your house to verify ownership of the safe may cost you a service call fee for them to drive out.

Here's a fun video for you, it should give you an idea of what needs to be done to open the safe. Just get a 9 volt battery and some wire cutters.. that's all I'm sayin..

Isn't the key alone sufficient to open the safe?

From the documentation I saw while looking up this model, the key and combination are both needed.

"For greatest security depress the key lock" sounds indeed like an AND.

Thank you. I have not tried to change the batteries yet, I will have to try that today after work. When I tried different codes, I just get the red error light.☹

Looks like the Photo has the program button just above the lower bolt.

I don't see more than two wires for the solenoid going into the safe. I think the things above the lower bolt is preventing the extension of the bolts while the safe is open.
