1969 mosler safe I want to open

Postby Justing » 29 Nov 2022 23:02

Theres a mosler safe that's been in my house for years. It was left by the previous owners and I've always wondered what was in it and I also want to move it but its bolted to the floor. The serial is 20450-22 which from looking on here I saw it was made in 1969, the model number is blank. It also has a plate with the MetLife insurance number which is 676983.

My question is A: can I break into it? B: how much would it cost for a locksmith to do it?

Please help us keep the forum organized and reduce moderator busy work by posting in the right category.. This was posted in the Ask Beginner Hobby Lock Picking Questions area.. cracking a safe is not beginner hobby lock picking..

Moving this to This Old Safe.

To answer your questions..

Without photos of the actual safe we can only give you guestimates, but A. with enough knowledge you can open a safe (we don't say break into a safe, that implies criminal behavior), B. most locksmiths do some safe work, but are not safe experts, so don't just call the first locksmith you see in the phonebook. You can pay a safe technician in the ball park of $250 to $750 to come out and open your safe.
