Diebold 900 Series Safe

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Diebold 900 Series Safe

Postby gary10509 » 7 Feb 2023 13:20

Complete newbie here.

I searched the forum and didn't find any references specifically for my safe. I have a large Diebold 900 Series Safe that was in our house when purchased. The combination has been lost over the years. Is it a vulnerable enough safe to assume that someone with expertise can spin it open? If so, how do I find that person? If it's not likely that it can be opened that way, can it be drilled? And if drilled, can it be repaired to functional again?

This is not my safe, but it's identical otherwise, including rating catalog number, etc.. A link was easier than posting photos. https://reedsauctionco.hibid.com/lot/83 ... ef=catalog

Thank you for taking the time to review and consider my question.

The Diebold 900 is the name for the safe lock. I don't know a model name for it. It can be described as a single-bolt lug door safe. The Diebold 900 can be manipulated. Some people did successfully learn manipulation to open their own safe, but this really needs persistence. It is possible, that you can find here someone living nearby willing to help you. The main problem is probably the "nearby". And you can look at https://www.savta.org/savta_tech.php for a tech nearby to open the safe for you. Some do manipulate safes, but most drill. Drilling means usually one hole with a diameter of at most 1/4". On a good safe such a hole can be repaired and then the safe used.
