Found potential combo to old safe w/ too many digits. Help!?

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Found potential combo to old safe w/ too many digits. Help!?

Postby HarryJ346 » 19 May 2023 14:01

So I found an old Meilink safe in a old house I bought, pictured here: https://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=67422

Then I found a potential combination written inside the room:

Image

I think it says "LRLR - 224803402"

The sequence for this safe is 4321 LRLR, and they wrote down "LRLR," but there nine digits here. Should be eight digits max (or six max?). I've tried and tried to work these numbers and variations with no luck and it's driving me insane. Tried leaving out one digit everywhere, 4 as a dash, 4 as a 1, 8 as a 6 and 3, single digit variations (ex., 22-4-80-34). Also, I started manipulating and think one of the numbers is 45...which makes no sense. I haven't really focused on manipulating until I exhaust this potential combo.

Does anyone have any advice on how to use this info?

So many questions.... If the combination included a single digit, would the manual list it as "03" or just "3"? Are there numbers that Meilink tends to use / not use in their sequence? Does this safe even provide 4 numbers or just "3 plus turn right until it opens"? Can I use this info to help when manipulating or is it better just to start from scratch? Could the combinations on these safes be changed? Was it common to add an extra digit in there to throw people off? Is the extra digit a cypher or key to revealing the other four numbers? Ugh. I'm going crazy.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Maybe the 4 is really a crossed out digit and the combo is 22-80-34? But the 8 is not that clear. You could try other multiples of 10 for the second number. I do see a 02 at the end, which might be where the dial stops. Manipulation should not be difficult.
