Sorry for bumping this again, but noone who has any suggestions as to what I might look for instead?

Why would anyone have additional suggestions? You said on July 5th that you went with Medeco, so case closed right?

Perhaps the lack of suggestions in the original thread means that there really arent that many, its not like we are holding out our best answers from you.

Why not make a custom cam for the medeco lock. You can drill two small holes next to each other and file them out for the tail end of
your cam lock & bend the metal as you wish. You can make it as long as you like or need it to be.

You can put a couple of large washers on the lock body to give you more room on the inside, where the cam goes

I know you solved your problem

Just my two cents

Id have simply used the existing cam from the outgoing lock
And welded a 1/4 bolt just shy of the protruding length of the incoming (medeco) cam lock to it
So the bolt extends the cam back towards the locking arm and in the locked position is in the way
The upside of this install
If you retract the latch before putting the can into the locking position
It is halflatched and you can still to retract the latch
And with the described cam arrangement you could have used the abloy

I went with a Medeco out of what was available, but I still think the actual cylinder sticks in rather deep into the lock as well as I am somewhat annoyed with the fact that the keywey is oriented 45 degress to one side and not straight 90 degrees down like a normal lock for it to be non-key retaining.
