What a good dimple lock to practice on?

Postby KPick » 17 Feb 2014 12:35

Hey Everyone!

About 2 days ago, I was walking back home from school, and I saw a Bell brand 12 mm U shaped dimple bike lock on the floor. I picked it up and, even though it had some wear and tear, I still found it apparently operational. So I went home, got the dimple pick out of my Klom set, and then I began to pick it. Dimple picking was a hard pick at first because I've never picked sideways pins in my life, even though I mastered basically the basic locks (standard, spool, serrated, spoorated key pins and driver pins). After a while, I mastered the 4 pin lock, after having to modify my pick to the point where I can shovel the pin up with the sharper tip. This was easy after all because I detected nothing but standard pins. So after that, I realized, I need to conquer dimple locks. What would be a good dimple lock to practice on. I'm looking for something I can re-key, and since there are members who have experienced dimple locks more often like than me. What would be a great lock for training, dimple lock wise? :?: :)

I would say Multlock 7x7 is a good trainer, simmpler ABus locks are also good (they run by so many names, differnt by country that you are better off if you look for the 6 pin abus dimples whatever the name.
that's where I would start
To infinity... and beyond!
