Mortise Lock

Mortise Lock

Postby xospecialk » 22 Jul 2014 21:11

I recently moved into a new apartment and they use a mortise lock on the door. I removed it and its a BEST 30H. I tried to replace the cylinder with a mul-t-lock cylinder, but the cam that came w/ the cylinder didn't work it was a straight cam, but the cam on the original cylinder was like this

I've searched high and low, but can't seem to find a high security lock that will fit into this mortise lock, so i'm thinking about replacing the whole mortise unit w/ a high security unit, but i'm not sure which unit would fit. I talked to a hardware store guy and he said not all units are the same, but how do know which one would fit correctly?

thanks!

Quick question, do you have permission from the apartment owner to change the locks? Just a thought, always CYA.

It's a condo that I bought so I'm assuming I do. Good point though I'll check.

Photo didn't show up but you can get a cam for almost any application. Instead of wasting time on here just go to a locksmith.
