The Great Lock comparison thread! lock vs lock

Postby C158 » 10 Jun 2016 18:00

I just found out about these guys and they can be bought with Rota Padlocks, which appear to be pretty stout.

The Core itself looks very cool, but somewhat outdated? But in the small amount of research I have done they still appear to be high security systems that are very well respected? So I was hoping for a lamen comparison to how they stack up against the modern day big names as stated above (the others too)

Thanks

Reason: trying out this new thread title, it may change as we decide where this is going (all consumer grade locks or just high security residential and commercial grade locks)

[ADMIN NOTE: C158 and I have been PMing trying to find a way to make his research easy for everyone to find and comment on while he goes on a journey to compare different lock mechanism designs, especially those of the high security caliber, but without having a bunch of short separate lock comparison threads running parallel to each other at the same time, which really helps me keep my sanity in trying to keep the forum clutter free.

We're going to try and start a thread that allows everyone to compare x to y and hopefully build up a good thread and good reference for current and future members and even those from the public just looking for a good reference on what makes one lock better or worse than the other. I'm sure there will be some personal opinions offered as we all have our favorite designs and mechanisms, but I'm sure everyone will stay level headed and offer sound technical advice. -Squelchtone]

@C158:

You had a few threads and a couple of questions already answered. How about detailing a bit what you so far found out/researched, here in one place? If you have the time.
Otherwise the same stuff will come up here again and people don't like repeating themselves, plus it will greatly help the people in the future.

I think you already collected & know a lot of info/feedback on a lot of lock comparisons.
To infinity... and beyond!
