Entry knob with clockwise unlock

Entry knob with clockwise unlock

Postby Logks » 8 Jan 2021 11:42

Hello

I have an entry door hinged on the right with a deadbolt set to lock when key turns counterclockwise. (I like this set up). Also have a Baldwin classic entry knob (no emergency exit function) below it, and that one locks when the key turns clockwise (I don't like this setup). I took it apart and see that this behavior is defined in the bones of the lock. The central tubular housing is cut out with a butterfly shape that only permits this direction of lock swing, and a cam that makes and brakes the rotational lock is ramped to only allow this direction of lock swing.

Is there a set of internal parts I can buy to replace these and allow a <clockwise = unlock, counterclockwise = lock > action?

Is there another quality brand of classic shape (and rose) brass knob that either comes with <counterclockwise = lock> or is modifiable to achieve this orientation?

Thanks for any help!

Installed Many Deadbolts, but can't picture the workings right now, seems flipping upside down would Reverse direction if allowed.
Personally, I like, curious of others here, if lock is on left side of door, lock counterclockwise. If on Right side of door, lock clockwise, Basically, the top of the key moves the direction of the bolt. Other side of Door would be reverse direction.

Can you look at it and see if a part could allow it?, another part?, Replace a piece?
