Just came across this site, the knock lock sounds interesting until the batteries & power both go out

It does have Battery Back up, can still fail, The knock would have to be for convience. Can't do with someone with you, or near by, could be recorded, or Parabolic mike could pick up.

Yet it tells how you can make fake knocks in front of the combination.

Agree as to the weaknesses in the system. If the person is able to exactly duplicate the full knock sequence, it would open. A recording would be able to tell you that.

One thing I don't care for based on the description of operation is that after each knock sequence the system generates a beep. So if you did a single knock, you would hear a beep. It could be a giveaway that the system is in place. Your secret hidey-hole is no longer secret.

And reading to the bottom of the page one finds this, "The Knocklock is no longer being made but we do have quite a few left."

Not that I'm surprised.
It's a good day when I learn something new.

So I guess the warranty is not worth much.

S&G made the Pulsetronic safe lock like that years ago. There was a handheld "keypad" that was held up to the safe after the combination was keyed in and then it would transmit thru the door something like this lock.

The nice part about it was the safe lock could be anywhere and there was no spindle hole etc to indicate where it was.

Bart part was if the batteries died...

Electronics could be modified so it would take a momentary button press in correct sequence. If a Reed switch, or a microswitch added in lockset if present, that could work, turn knob to enter sequence. Or press Doorbell button for 4? Seconds or whatever time you want, would put into Unlock mode, pressing doorbell button in correct sequence would unlock. After 30 or whatever seconds, would revert back to door bell. You could eliminate the feedback tone.
