Peerless Chain Link Model 500 Handcuffs

Once an April Fools joke, now a popular addition to the forum, post your handcuff related threads here.

Peerless Chain Link Model 500 Handcuffs

So the first of the 'real' handcuffs in my collection.

The Peerless Chain Linked Model 500 handcuffs.

Pretty decent weight to them, nice build quality with a matte/semi-brushed finish.

Well formed teeth. Not a terribly sharp point at the end either.

Three standard locking ratchets in the frame. You'll observe that there's not much tolerance between the locking ratchets and the frame which means you can shim it down the side...

And a bit of a close up on the chain/join:

Sadly, they're the simplest of all the handcuffs and have no additional security features built in

So in summary:

Shimmable?
    Yes.
Not super easy to shim unless you have some nice thin but rigid metal. If you can get something thin enough down the side that's also good.

Pickable?
    Yes.
Not super easy as key-way tolerance is reasonably difficult to put standard tools through.

Double locking?
    Yes.
    Easily un-done when picking.
A couple of strong knocks against the ground and the double lock has not changed state.

Join?
    Chain linked.
Good quality chain, would be very surprised if it failed

Other vulnerabilities?
    None noted.

Any Type of additional or unique security?
    No.

Ha! Awesome!
Any chance you have access to more interesting handcuffs from them direct then? Y'know, since your local and all? :P
I'd love to get a set of Peerless Model 710 High Security Handcuffs and a set of their hinged ones...
They make a wide range of cuffs, but they're not super easy to come by (In Australia anyway) :(

It looks like they moved across the river to West Springfield

Peerless Handcuff Company
181 Doty Circle
West Springfield, MA 01089 USA

They may still maintain an office at 95 State Street Springfield MA so they can stamp Springfield, MA on the cuffs. I'll have to ask them.

I think I'm going to see about getting a tour and taking pictures, I'm sure some folks here would enjoy seeing that.

PS. you'll be happy to know that the Australian themed restaurant Outback Steakhouse is a block or two away from their new location! So you're not that far from them after all! =)
