I have been looking at buying a set of handcuffs for awhile now .. SO on a whim I bought a set of Peerless 701C and a set of Smith and Wesson M100-1 .. So lets hope I dont get stuck in them by the end of the week.
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

Practice typing with your hands behind your back so you can still update us if you get stuck!!!

If you are planning to pick them open while you are wearing them, I would certainly recommend not putting them on tight (especially if they are small).
When handcuffs are on tight, you can harm yourself if you get stuck in them for a while. This is even more of a concern if you are trying to manipulate your hands while cuffed.
Just have the key nearby, and listen to what your body is telling you. If things start to hurt, make an adjustment with the cuffs.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

Can't wait to hear what kind of results you have! I have never tried to pick or shim cuffs before but I would like to foray into them at some point.

That is the smart way to start. People not doing that are why I have to put warnings about exactly that on my training materials.

Couple of things I have observed so far.. Which I am sure plenty of people have already commented on ..
Peerless - Easy to undo the Double lock and unlock the cuff with a bobby pin.. Not very much force is need ..
S&M - Can be done but takes more force to move the pieces..
Also, I have a hard time reaching back to the cuff to unlock them when I have them on.. Wrist doesn't seem to be really flexible ..

Having thin and flexible wrists does help when in the cuffs but practice is important either way as no amount of flexibility makes up for not being able to find the key hole.
S&W does tend to use very stiff leaf springs in their cuffs, partly because the spring does double duty as the double locking bar in most of their current designs. Peerless uses less stiff springs but their keyway position does give some people trouble when using improvised tools.

I have had trouble picking peerless and Alcyon. Getting tools around that far is a pain. ASP are the worst. At this time, I have a yellow window pair of model 200's and I have yet to pick them. Not because they are super secure and ultra protected, but the thick plastic coupled with the tight tolerance keyway... But really, I am a bit scared to try to pick them since they have plastic parts and I already destroyed my first pair in 20 seconds by adding oil and twerking the key left and right, double lock unlock, double lock, unlock. Super fast to "work the oil in", not realising there was plastic inside. After those few seconds the cuffs could no longer be double locked by using the keyway and I trusted them no more and sent them back for a replacement. Now I treat them like they are made of glass.
Need to improve my SPP. I lose my pin position easily, press between pins, need to know which pick and when to swap.
