On-line auction item

Auction site is near me. I'm not going to bid on these but I question if the lock 'originally' went with the shackles and is this item authentic.

We recently talked about these locks in another thread here viewtopic.php?f=60&t=66174&p=492378 .. they're <100 year old reproductions aged to look old and usually have brass plaques attached to them with the name of some famous outpost or jail like Alcatraz or San Quentin or Pony Express.

Right, I'm more questioning the 'cuffs' authenticity mainly because of the price they have reached. I just don't see that high of a value.

Those would be leg cuffs. As hand cuffs, they would be fairly useless.

It is possible that they were made in 1960 (based on the amount of rust and the listing’s claim of them being 60 years old). Am not any sort of expert on leg irons. They may be legit, but I’d think that at least in this country, the irons used by law enforcement was more advanced than that.

Perhaps some of our forum’s older-than-me members might be aware of period correct irons from the 1960s.

maybe's someone's wife was into kinky BSDM stuff.. these look more like a home made prop for some sex wierdo than anything that would be used on an actual inmate or prisoner..
