Just use a broken key extractor, or, if you must, i suppose, a half diamond, if you must. Is it a padlock, or a door lock...? (One more reason, Don't pick locks you rely on)

And, don't pick a lock that you do not own.

Or, if you have a wire thin enough, bend it to look kinda like a fish hook barb at the end and pull it out.

I once got a key stuck in an American 5200 Padlock I took apart to see how it works. The problem was even though I have a key it was a US Military lock and not mine to mess with. I tryed every pick I own (witch by the way I had to use from the inside because of the key blocking the keyway) I eventually had to remove the plug and all the pins to remove the key. The reason I say all the pins is because I wasnt using a follower and all the pins just fell out all over the place anyway. After an hour figuring out the pin order and reassembling the lock piece by piece I learned the hard way why you shouldnt play with locks that are not yours. I suggest removing plug as a last resort but, it is still an option.
