im new to this but most of the napa exact fit blades have the metal and they have also came up with a blade that has spring metal across the back for the tension

Usually, there is a bucket outside the door of auto parts stores, which people put oil and old wiper blades into. I don't know if this is a common practice, but my local AutoZone does this. It's a great way to get inserts.

I have about 100 of these now, so if anyone wants some, let me know... There are way more than I will ever use.
