Idk, some times I just like to imagine what could be made out of titanium and how it would affect how it worked. Like what if you had a titanium... cup? You could jump in front of a bullet heading for the president/prime minister and deflect it making your crotch a hero. Hmm, I like my imagination. :D

Titanium is too brittle for picks.

I think the metal mos of you want is Adamantium

spell check

that is a typo error, they meant 'govenment steal', it appears to be a 'steep half diamond' which if sanded smooth will give a little better feedback than a common halfdiamond. the reason is that as the angle gets steeper, the cam action is less efficient, producing more feedback feel. also, this diamond can be played under one pin without impinging on the pins forward or behind it.

You guys got me thinking about the titanium. I play lacrosse and many of the more expensive stick handles are made out of titanium and titanium alloys. Some are made of some more exotic stuff like scandium as well. The handles are hollow and the metal would be about the perfect thickness for a pick. Only problem is these handles run about $100 a piece minimum. But if a teammate breaks one I'll try to get ahold of it.

What property of titanium were you thinking of as improving the performance of a pick?

Or do you mean the magic marketing property of "it's titanium so it MUST be better!"...?

My pick would have the highest strength to weight ratio known to man.

Seriously, I'm sure the pick would be garbage but I still might try it anyways if I have nothing to do. I just like making picks. :)

It would snap - fast. Titanium doesn't like being fatuiged unless it's alloyed with spring steel. The ultimate picks would be made of a flexible, high strength polymer.

That's what anyone who mentions a titianium pick has in mind. Most know nothing of metallurgy.

No I don't really want to make a pick out of it. Like I said, I just like the idea.
Titanium just has some magical essence that makes everything better. :D
I actually know nothing of its properties. We haven't gotten to metals in chemistry.

n2oah - the fact that you can even spell metallurgy, let alone understand what it is at your age - blows my mind.
