HPC Inverted 6-Pin Tubular Lockpick

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

HPC Inverted 6-Pin Tubular Lockpick

Postby symbols » 22 Mar 2004 23:48

Hey guys! I've been reading lockpicking101 forums for a while now and it has been very informative and helpful. This is my first time posting and I had a quick question for you guru's out there. I've searched these forums, google, and many lockpick supply sites for an HPC Inverted 6-Pin Tubular Lockpick but no luck. Below is a link to the tool itself on their site.

http://www.hpcworld.com/lockhpc/p_tlpspr.htm

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :o

you'll probably have to go through a liscensed HPC dealer. and then, you'll probably have to be a locksmith... i havn't found to much HPC stuff available to the public. What i do run across is rare... yet, it seems like all locksmiths have a set or two...

maybe it's just me and my perception of the picks are completely blurred. just my 2 cents.

HPC equipment can be ordered through www.lockpicks.com I beleive. I have never seen an inverted 6 pin tubular lock though, and if anyone has a picture, I am quite anxious to learn about these locks.

Yeah, I can get some picutres of 6-pin inverted tubular locks for ya. Ill upload them onto my server in a few hours. They are sometimes used as locks on coffee and candy vending machines.

Here are the pictures I took.

This one is probably the best, it shows all 6 pins and then the strange 7 pin between two of them. I dont even see where tension would applied if a normal key were to open it.

Or maybe im completely wrong and this isn't even a 6pin inverted at all  . Although on hpc's site it said their 6-Pin Inverted Pick works on the locks commonly found on real estate padlocks. I remember seeing the lock on them and they both seem to look the same to me.

i'm seeing 7 pins... probably the southord pick would work. i'm not an expert on tubulars though, as i don't own any.

two more things:
- cropping does wonders
- what is this lock on you are trying to pick?

Yeah, sorry about not cropping the images beforehand :p
A friend of mine owns some vending machines and asked me if I could pick them, and well, my southord 7 and 8pin (newer style) didn't exactly work.

Well they aren't evenly spaced, so I'm not sure how I would pick it with the southord's.

if your friend owns the vending machines, ask to see the key, this should answer some of your questions

(unless, of course this is just a cover story  )

heh, never thought about that. He originally called me up and asked if I could pick it with my southords, didn't think about looking at the key first :) I'll ask him next time I see him

I actually was just out today, and saw a new vending machine. So I go over, and guess whats on it, one of those nice inverted tubular locks. Thanks symbols.

A quick look at the lock, and at my Southord tubular pick gives a bit of information. First, that the pick does indeed fit in the lock, altough the spacing is off, and there is no way to tension the lock properly, it appears.

hehe np Chucklz. The same results occured with me aswell. The pick does fit and seems to decode some of the pins, some off-spacing but still the question remains - how to apply tension.

Hopefully we will find out soon.
