I was surprised and disturbed to note here several images that have been copied (without my permission) from my web site(http://www.crypto.com). In particular, there is an image above of some Falle-Safe torque tools that was taken (and badly resized) from http://www.crypto.com/photos/misc/picks ... iable.html . There may be others. I've not checked carefully.

I was unaware that he would be disturbed about my using his photo's.

unauthorized use or copying of someone else's images or text is a violation of copyright. When done without even acknowledgment of its source, as it has been here, it is simply intellectual theft. (Basic copyright rights are recognized, and enforceable, in virtually every country connected to the Internet; you do not want to be on the wrong end of a copyright claim.)

I was also unaware of the copyright violation, and will from now on only provide links to his site. I am sorry for the violation.

Forgive me for wondering what else, besides my images, the person or people who took them is interested in stealing.

This comment implying that I purposely stole his images and am interested in stealing other things as well, was unnecessary(I didn't even know there was anything wrong with copying and posting images onto another site.), though I now understand his perspective on this.
If I did have intentions to steal things I wouldn't bother with lockpicking, as anyone who lockpicks knows there are much faster, easier ways to gain entrance to a house or car.

I'm sorry if I appear to be unfriendly or uptight about this, but whoever copied these photos and put them here hasn't exactly gotten off to a good start with me. Presumably others whose images might have been similarly mis-appropriated will feel much the same way.

i_want_to_pick: Thanks for that clarification and apology. I, too, believe the comment in regards to stealing other things was uncalled for, but I do understand his perspective as well.

The year may be different, depending on the photo, but the message is the same, and has been for a number of years now. This is your clue that Dr. Blaze holds a copyright for the image. Intellectual property infractions are very severe matters indeed. Most respectable Universities have a no tolerance policy towards this kind of theft. In some places, a drug infraction gets you minor disciplinary action, while cribbing a paper has you home the next day.

In the academic world, your IP is everything. The only analogy I can currently think of (I spent a long weekend travelling to and from a conference) is to imagine that you work in one of the mechanical trades, and go to work to find that someone has "borrowed" your tools for a few days, without asking/telling you, or worse claiming that your hours of hard work were actually theirs.


I don't want to yell, or be harsh in any regard, just hoping to let everyone see how things are for those of us in "ivory towers"
