DIY Slim Line Pick

Postby yungning » 29 Mar 2004 22:35

i just got a Abus 28/70, my Peterson and Southernord picks are too thick for it's keyway.

i know i can go buy the slim line pick, but i really don't wanna spend more money on that.

anyone got idea how to make the slim pick by urself?

thx.

Grind it down, or use a file. What Peterson pick are you trying to use?

i always use Peterson Hook.

i use wiper blade and haksaw blade to make some picks and tension wrenchs sometimes, but if i grind it to be thiner....it will be strong enough?

hmm...or maybe i should try it by myself.

It will be strong enough, if used carefully. Consider purchasing a Peterson SlenderGem.

Got some pick-gun picks? Grind down one of the tips to a diamond. Or, get a hack-saw blade and make your own. Something to fit in your hand or exactonife.

Just use your creativity. (I'll give you a hint: its on the right side of your brain) :)

Chucklz, do you use the peterson slender gem on abus disk locks? I have a 28/70 and a 24/50, the only picks I can use on them are one from my navigator set and my mini-blue rytans.

I have a half diamond and a hook that I made for locks with really tight keyways. I have a very long section with no taper so the half diamond ends up like this
