CAD lockpick templates

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to lockpicking but I want to make my own lockpicks for the first lockpicking attempts.
Making them "straight on" does not seem the right way for me, so I use a CAD software to design the lockpicks. Then I print out the drawings, cut them out and glue them to a hacksaw blade to get the exact shape by grinding.

You may want to convert to pdf as most here will not have software to open a dxf file.

Hello Tobias,

Good idea to make some CAD files, but I had problem with the DXF file opening. I am also in the process of designing some picks using a CAD program. I would like to see the results if you can send them, or repost them.

PS: It might be that your PDF viewer is unable to view the whole pdf as it is in a0 format. Perhaps you need to set paper size manually to DIN a0.

few things:
1) autodesk publishes a free dwf viewer, so anyone can see them

2) when plotting to PDF from a drafting document type, ALWAYS plot 1:1 or scaled as appropreiate, and noted in the file, and for general user use, plot to 8.5x11 or A4 so that most users can plot it w/o scaling to get an accurate image.

3) keep in mind that a lot of this hobby is meausred in hundreths of an inch. when you plot a line weight with CAD software you are adding width to the line, typically 1/4+ of a mm which is noticable at those scales. as such a more accurate print can be generated by plotting with a 0 line weight and a solid hatch filling in the desired shapes. this will result in a line so fine as to barely plot, but the area inside it (which holds interest to us) as black.

Third down from the top left appears to be a broken key extractor combined with a reach pick. I'm not sure this would be of any great use.

I was able to open the file in Acrobat, but I can only view a portion of it, so it's hard to comment much on the picks, but from what I can see, they all appear to be a combination of standard pick designs and a reach pick style.

Not sure if the pdf download corretly but the second colum came in without tips, there cut off. But like the fact the pdfs can be opened in vector based programs. Hoping to make a set soon!
