I see many people talking about rolls of spring steel, and I was planning to buy some of it myself, but I have a stupid question that needs answering before I do...
The definition of spring steel, is that is has a sort of "memory" and goes back to its original form whenever it can. I know spring steel makes some awesome picks, the locksmith I was training with only used spring steel stuff. But HOW do you get the rolls of spring steel to stay flat after you cut them? It would seem to me that the pieces you cut off would want to continue being curved like they are in the roll to begin with... the only thing I can think of is to cut the strips perpendicular to the direction of the roll, keeping the picks too narrow to curve at all. It would appear that cutting the blanks WITH the roll would just cause your pick to roll...
Someone set me straight please. =)
