the SO handles are meant to be quite thick and you lose a lot of feeling. personally i wrap them in electrical tape. some people dip them in plsticpid. some people like the bear metal. its all about personal preference Vs Comfort Vs what works best for you.
I find that after about 15 mins of picking my hands hurt without any kind of padding but with tape i never have any problems. and if u watch some videos of competition picking its unlikely you will see anyone with rubber handles.
