My own emergency lockout kit

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Still free associating on the concept, engineer, If you make a nail with the bitting of the key on it, you will want to install it when you appear to the neighbors to be doing some kind of maintainence, don't be seen drilling a hole and putting something into it. Use a bit of theater to help the neighbors understand something else is going on.

Also, use a bit of theater when pulling the tool out, perhaps, a feigned cell phone call, that can be cover for recovering the tool, you appear to be holding the cell so that you can see the screen in daylight while in fact your using it to cover pulling the tool out.

about rust, some kind of cosmoline in the hole would be able to also keep the nail from bouncing loose when the door is used. But don't use too much or it will come bubbling out on a hot day and draw attention to the nail.

I just love free associating, letting ideas come and go. :D

You've set me off thinking again Raimundo, with all these excelent ideas!

I was working on the idea of the pick not being very good, keeping anyone else from picking my locks too easily. You are right about it attracting a lot of attention though (especially round here) and also about it possibility not being the best way either. Neighbourhood watch is very good round here, but they don't know I'm a locksmith yet (as far as I know anyway).

A lockpicking nail??? That's quite a wonderous thought... Too good to turn down, it is something I'm definately going to have to make! I think I've got the ideal nails as well somewhere...

I've got a whole new respect for you Raimundo, you are positively Machiavellian!

Lock picking nail does sound good. You could pretty easily profile it to be easily used as a rake, I'm gonna give that a shot to. Really cool concept. Can anyone actually take a picture of this these Bristle hair picks since I am completely unfamiliar with the concept.

Yes i have thought about consealing something when you forget your keys, but just forgeting your keys and remembering to take your lockpicks can be very ironic, or even worse fogeting abut both. So i came up with an idea of hiding some lockpicks (or key?) into something you never forget maybe a wallet. For the improvising maybe a couple of paper clips and bobby pins if in case you get caught no-one will be accusing you of carrying picks with you. Just make sure you know how to open your door with paper clips and bobby pins. :P
