good deal on southord picks/shipping

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

good deal on southord picks/shipping

Postby papa_delicious » 22 Aug 2009 15:59

Hi all, I'm pretty new to this site/lock picking. so new, in fact, that I don't even have any picks yet! (besides paper clips and bobby pins :P ) but I just ordered a bunch from southord a few days ago, and while I was deciding on what set of picks to get, I saw this little note in the shopping cart:

** Note! Orders valuing less than $15.00 and containing only single lock picks / "TW" tension tools (excluding all MAX picks) are charged $2.00 shipping within the U.S., and $3.00 shipping internationally. Adjustment to the shipping cost is made after the order is received.

sorry if you guys all knew about this, but I didn't see it posted anywhere/searching.

regular shipping is about $8 US from them, so it's a considerable savings (especially if you're only buying $15 worth of picks!) and I was able to get 3 regular picks (a snake rake and two double-ended ones), 3 slimline(hook, diamond, and hook/diamond hybrid), and 2 tension tools. compared to the normal 5 piece set, I paid the same price and was able to get more stuff! true, you don't get a case this way, but I don't really think that's necessary/would be a decently easy thing to make. I didn't get a ball pick, but I heard mixed reports of their usefulness compared to the others. the double ended picks I got are this one: http://www.southord.com/Lock-Picking-Tools/Individual-Standard-Short-Double-Ended-Lock-Pick.html and a longer one with a diamond and a different type of rake on the other end.

I know it's kind of moot since I already ordered the picks, but do you think I got a good selection? more importantly, is there anything you think I really should have that I don't (yet ;) ) I can't wait for them to get here!
