My first Pickset

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

My first Pickset

Postby aphixnet » 23 Jan 2010 9:43

Hey there, I just made my own pickset :D I've done it from hacksaw blades. The short ones are getting a handle like the one here. The two longer ones maybe get no handle and the one with the handle is just to test the handle-material.

At first, I measured some keys and keyholes to get the right length and height, then I broke the blades, scratched the measured and guessed dimensions on them (the left painting is great for that). At next I grinded them, tested them when I thought that they are ok. If sth. does't fit, it is easy to correct it in this stage...

When they are well, I buffed them at work till they shine like polished chrome in the sun. The next step was to blue them (cold blueing) and now the handle out of fimo is on its way :D

Ps.: The small boxes are 5mm away from each other ;-)

Those picks look great, even more so for a first set. My first picks didn't look anywhere near that good.

Well done and welcome to the site :)
