Pocket-knife picks, worth it to buy?

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Hey pick it, how do you find the rubber handles, i have one rubber handled 2000 series hook pick and i found it a bit flimsy at first but got used to it. How do you find em?

As a retired locksmith, for happenstance reasons I carry a southord jackknife with a reshaped hook on a small key ring. I chose the southern specialties warded picks because the look like normal keys at a glance. However, since I use only the L, T & t keys even on double spring padlocks, the jackknife and 3 keys are not concealed but merely low profiled. Just a thought

Footnote to my earlier post. After visiting an older retired locksmith I know, He said," Why don't you forget the L shaped key and just wiggle the T shaped key a little?" So I did and it works fine. Which means a Jackknife pick set with two keys attached is just as effective.

i love the jack knife pick sets. i have two sets> plus the pen set and the credit card set. best one so far is the metal jack knife with 5 picks+key extractor. the pen set is great too. go for it

Another adjustment to the southord jackknife pick set. I put a slight bend aft of the bend near the handle end now the tension wrench is lower profile in the pick body. The best change is adding a slight bend in the workimg end of the tension wrench so it will work in various width keyways. Both new angles are same direction as original bends. It's not the tools you use, it's how you use the tools. :D

In addition to using my Southord JPXS-6 as above, I reduced the attached keys to one. I found the Southern Specialties small double "t" works all the common use warded padlocks, large or small that I've run across lately. So, a pocket knife with one key on it doesn't attract much attention.
