HPC computer generated pick set.

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

HPC computer generated pick set.

I am curious about the computer generated set for sale by Lockpicks.com.
http://www.LockPicks.com/computer-lock- ... omp-1.aspx
Does anybody have any experiance with them?
My wife needs a birthday present for me and I don't think I would ever buy them myself but they are just right for a present.
Any info or stories about those picks would be welcome.

Here's a good thread with comments from a few people that find them useful, and several who couldn't get them to work.

They've been discussed a lot here: there are many other threads with people's opinions of them... Google's a good place to start: a quick search shows that there are 126 threads on lockpicking101.com on these picks, discussing people's opinions of them, and how best to use them.

That's odd, I used the built in search in LP101 and couldn't find any articles about them. I even searched for just HPC and got 134ish results and after looking at 6 pages of summaries gave up and posted. I usually try searching first, gotta love google I guess.
Thanks for the search help.

No problem in the least... and a slightly early Happy Birthday. :)

I find the thing with picks like that is you just have to try them yourself to see if they will work for your picking style. But at near $80 bucks a throw it's an expensive try. But they do look nice!

I got my picks yesterday, it only took 2 day ground shipping from Lockpicks.com even from cali.
They are really nice looking and very, very flexible. Haven't tried them in a lock yet though.
Point of interest. The edges are extremly sharp. Not like knife enge sharp but more like ice skate sharp. I cut myself twice while playing with them. ----> oceans of blood!
Looking forward to trying them.

Just remember that the versions sold by HPC are over-sized. The original "computer picks" designed in Israel were 30% smaller.

Use a reduced photocopy of the picks on a copier as a template and gind your own for the proper size.

Sorry, that last post should state: grind your own to the proper size.

Funny you should mention that, I am currently working on a source for good pick making medium. I need to search for posts first but I might end up writing a quick topic about materials.

I think they are a little large for most locks these days. I never had a whole lot of luck with them but like everything else, it takes practice to use them.
