i did as some of u suggested and started out with 3 and 4 pin locks I am now up to 5 and 6 pin locks.

I would like to practice on some tubular locks but the cost of the picks are pretty high. Does any one know why the Chinese distributors don't sell 8 pin picks? Also,what is up with the 7.0, 7.5, 7.8 mm? picks? Are the chinese picks any good?

I ordered a 7 pin Southord tubular lock pick a couple of weeks back. The screw popped out of the side of it and I had to send it back to the company and they sent me a brand new one. Turns out I had no use for it anymore because before the lock pick broke I was able to pick the lock that needed picking. I know that the retail is insane on it like around 85+ shipping. I can do around 65-70 for it just message me.

If you want practice in picking tubular locks you should try picking them by hand with tension tools and something like a half diamond for poking. Look on U tube for instructions on picking tubular locks by hand. Bobby pins can be used to make both a poker and a tension tool.

Ya, tubular picks are very pricey. I've been working on trying to pick one with just normal picks (I've heard many people swear by the half diamond for this job) but haven't had success yet. But I will prevail!

I have done some SPP picking on my tubular locks. Not that difficult, but time consuming as you have to re-pick it at every pin. Wonder if someone makes a "plug spinner" for tubular locks so that once it's picked once, you can spin it open.

Not sure if it's feasible, but it would be nice. I bought one of those SouthOrd 8-pin picks. Works great but not sure it's worth $85 to validate it. Unless you're going to use it professionally, I would just take everyone's word for it that they work just fine.
