Sparrows King and Queen Picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Sparrows King and Queen Picks

Sparrows had these at DEF CON, they're not on the website yet but it was $10 for the pair. I haven't had much time to play with them but it's nice to see someone putting out tools that aren't commercially available.

My first impression is that they're a little large and would be difficult to get into any tight keyways. I haven't gone through the templates to compare the size to other designs but I'll update the post when I do.

Behind the King and Queen are the Bogota Pi's from SEREPick. They're titanium and I really like them for EDC if that's your thing - having the hook is really nice vs. standard Bogotas at least for me. The tension wrench is not great but it's flat and works well enough for the common things you might run into.

Always a fan of Sparrows; I have several sets. Those picks do look big compared to the bogies. I'm curious to see how they work.

THEY LOOK HUGE, to me they seem more aesthetic than practical. Not bad looking though, I personally don't like much Sparrows has to offer. :?

So if you go by the scaled image in this thread, they're dead on for size. http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2387&start=30. I guess it's important to remember that these aren't rakes, they're more like jigglers or tryout keys that you would use with a tension wrench and relatively little movement of the pick itself. Also, they were designed for Yale locks initialy based on what I've read. The site search comes back with a number of threads that cover the topic pretty well.

You can turn them upside-down and have twice as many locks pop!

I own a pair of King and Queens made by Lock Smith Army. They are fun and I use them mostly on my door knob and dead bolt locks.

I use them more like a jiggler.
