Swiss Army knife lockpick blade

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Swiss Army knife lockpick blade

Postby Forestfire1776 » 30 Nov 2014 15:52

I got bored a while back and filled a half diamond pick out of a blade that was never used on a swiss army knife. I made a youtube video to better illustrate what I did. This is my first post and I couldn't find anything on here saying that I couldn't link to a youtube video. So if that's not cool could someone please let me know. Anyway let me know what you guys think.

Dakota

Nice idea.

As you said, it is a bit thick. But its better than nothing and convenient to have with you all the tim

If you had the tension wrench the length of the scale, I think you could clear the end of the tweezer holder and have the bent end of the wrench over hang the end of the knife. You could also cut a notch into one of the thicker blades for an on-the-fly bender to have with you.

Nice post.

Welcome, Dakota. :)

Good thinking with the pick. You may want to play around with making a hook or half diamond to fit in the toothpick slot. You may try to remove the plastic handle on that side so you can dremel the inside to make space for a larger pick. Then put a tension wrench on the other side as suggested above, and you are golden!

Great first post. Keep us informed on your work.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You hold/use the tension wrench very well, most new pickers can't seem to get that right, so keep up the good work.

This is a nice EDC project, thanks for sharing,

Very cool. I wonder if someone could make a bit that goes into a bit holder. For example, the leatherman charge. Then that bit could accept different pick tips, like a southord dimple pick, or bosnian bills quick picks.

Nice! Picks can also be made from old dental instruments. When I go to my dentist I ask if he has any old broken ones.
